What We're Up To!

As part of our Creative Curriculum we include the children in the planning.

Through Talking Tuesdays, meetings with Class Ambassadors and in class discussions; the teachers share the learning objectives with the children and then ask the children to think about tasks & activities which could be planned to cover those objectives.

In Early Years/KS1 in particular, sometimes the teaching and learning can go off in an unexpected direction.  For example in Rookery class, the discovery of a hedgehog using our school grounds as their home provided the children with an opportunity to explore hedgehog habitats, diet and hibernation.

Class teachers ensure that the learning addresses the year group National Curriculum objectives as we as providing the children with exciting, stimulating and accessible learning opportunities.

In terms 1 and 2 our Creative Curriculum Topic is 'Fire & Ice'.

In terms 3 and 4 our Creative Curriculum Topic is 'Back in Time'.

In terms 5 and 6 our Creative Curriculum Topic is 'All Around the World'.

We also have a Desigh & Technology Week and a Science Week, as well as an RE day each term.

Click on the class links to see how we are teaching the National Curriculum skills

to the children in each class.
